NOVI, MI – February 25, 2010 – Cottage, lakefront and vacation home buyers, builders or renters will find everything they need to make purchases and plans for the spring and summer season at the third annual Cottage & Lakefront Living Show, Rock Financial Showplace in Novi February 25 – 28.

“Our exhibitors have everything for inside and outside of a cottage or lakefront home or they can help you find a new one to buy, build or rent,” said Mike Wilbraham, show producer for ShowSpan, Inc.

Here’s a preview of what can be discovered at the show:

Mock-up log home walls showing the construction method used in the oak, pine and cedar log cabin and home kits manufactured by Gastineau Log Homes will be on display at the 4 Seasons Oak Log Homes of Ludington exhibit. Kits from just log walls to complete packages with trim, roof system and shingles are available.

Everything that you need to build including the logs, windows, fireplaces, shingles and doors are in the Golden Eagle log home packages from Grand River Log Homes of Mason.

Timm Construction & Alpena Property Consultants of Alpena will provide information on their construction services that focus on green building, home energy audits and geothermal design services for energy efficient cottages and waterfront properties in northeast Michigan.

Northern Michigan builder of vacation and retirement homes, Two Lakes Building Corp. of Roscommon, will provide building and remodeling information for customer-owned property or sites in the Au Sable River, Higgins and Houghton Lakes and Roscommon areas.

Over 50 different cottage vacation style home plans from traditional and contemporary ranches to traditional and Victorian two-story single family residential homes that range in size from 500 – 4,000 square feet are available from General Housing Corporation of Bay City. They are a modular home manufacturer that sells to licensed builders throughout Michigan and can design and build a dream cottage from scratch or work from an existing plan.

Informal advice on shoreline construction projects and natural shoreline landscaping to protect Michigan’s inland lakes will be provided by the Michigan Natural Shoreline Partnership. Educational materials will be handed out to inform property owners about natural shorelines and technologies that benefit lake ecosystems and the new Michigan certified natural shoreline professional program being offered to landscape and marine contractors in bioengineering lakeshore erosion control methods.

Custom nautical-themed mahogany furniture from boat-shaped toy chests and pedestal sinks to office desks and serving trays will be exhibited by designer and manufacturer Marine Services Unlimited of Houghton Lake.

 

Best known as a full service restoration, repair and construction company for classic wood and fiberglass boats, they will have a fully restored 1965 Century Resorter classic wooden boat at the show.

Alpine Land Surveying - Flood Zone Specialists of Highland are licensed and registered professional land surveyors. They are authorized to perform flood-risk analyses and obtain map amendments through FEMA, removing federal mandatory flood risk requirements from lenders and insurance companies.

Keep your lawn and property looking beautiful when having lakefront restoration and beach sanding done by TT & C Beaches of Howell. They use a patented system that completes the beach sanding within one day and does not require trucks or equipment that can destroy your property.

PLM Lake & Land Management Corp. of Morris and Milford provide aquatic and watershed management services including eco-friendly solutions for vegetation control in lakes, ponds and watersheds throughout Michigan.

Protecting and enhancing lakefront and waterfront properties is the goal of Michigan Marine Construction of Howell. They inspect, repair, construct and install steel, galvanized steel, boulder, ledge rock, vinyl and wood bulkhead seawalls and offer lake bottom sanding using a sand pumping system.

Aqua-Weed Control, Inc. of Holly specializes in lake and pond management and consulting for small backyard ponds to large lakes. They can provide additional treatment for lakefront homes, reduce the weeds and algae and improve the beach area.

If muck and silt need to be moved away from your dock or swimming area, stop by Scott Aerator Company of Holland to see their exhibit. They service all of Michigan and have pond fountains and aerators for small and mid-sized lakes.

Enhancing waterfront properties for swimming, fishing or aesthetics is The Pond Guy of Marine City for ponds, lakes, canals and marinas. They specialize in vegetation control and will manage it for you or they have all natural muck control products for the do-it-yourselfer.

Vinyl seawall construction samples will be displayed at the full service marine contractor JZ Contracting of Fenton exhibit. They specialize in seawall and lake front restoration and construction and will have industry experts available to answer questions.

Docks on wheels for ease in getting a dock in and out of the water, easy to use aluminum weed rollers to create a sandy beach and remove the weeds from the lake bottoms and vinyl, steel, wood and boulder seawalls are among the products on display at the American Marine Shore Control, Inc. of White Lake exhibit.

Educational materials will be distributed from Michigan Lake & Stream Associations of Stanton. They are advocates for responsible use of Michigan fresh water resources, primarily lake and streams, and participate in lake water quality monitoring programs.

Ski/wakeboard boat, recreational power boat and other 2010 models will be featured at the Action Water Sports of Fenton exhibit.

Cedar bead and cove strips will be placed over a wooden form as the building begins of a handcrafted lightweight, high performance wood-covered fiberglass custom boat by DreamCatcher BoatWorks of Grand Rapids, MI. The 11-foot “Little Auk Kayak” will weigh approximately 25 pounds when completed. They will have examples of both the strip and stitch and glue building processes on display.

Traditional wood and maintenance-free vinyl storage barns, backyard storage sheds, portable garages and custom gazebos will be featured at Mast Mini Barns of Fremont display.

Liquid Rubber Siding of Warren provides a maintenance-free home exterior with their specialized coating that allows you to keep the character of the home and never paint it again.

Outdoor leisure and enjoyment begins in a custom Western Red Cedar Adirondack chair from Avanti Wood Works of Waterford. Their handcrafted wooden patio and garden furniture includes an Adirondack junior chair as part of their children’s line.

Custom glass panels for bathrooms, sidelights and transom windows depicting vacation homes and fall color will be highlighted at the Pictures in Glass of Tecumseh display. Log furniture with stained glass inserts, stained glass shades on aspen wood lamps and glass panels made from crushed glass also will be displayed.

Palette knife oil paintings can be commissioned of your cottage, garden view or lake view from Valerie Studio & Fine Art Gallery of Petoskey.
They will have original oil paintings, limited edition prints and giclée fine art reproduction prints of landscapes on display.

Artistic steel silhouettes of over 80 Michigan lakes will be on display at the Great Lakes Iron Art of Waterford exhibit. The wall hangings are for interior or exterior use or as wall murals for hobbies, pets or addresses.

User friendly aircraft-grade aluminum telescoping flag poles that use inter-locking sleeves to raise and lower the pole sections will be on display at Girschle Flag Poles of Grandville exhibit. Military, patriotic and United States flags, eagle ornamentation pole-tops and other accessories will also be available.

Family campground, children’s camp and year-round retreats are located at the Cran-Hill Ranch in Rodney. Winter sports are available now but summer brings river tubing, hiking, horses and many other family and general activities.

Milk chocolate cherry pecan and dark chocolate raspberry almond join the favorite milk chocolate almond English toffee for satisfying summer memories back at the R Candy’s exhibit of Bellevue.

Every aspect of cottage and lakefront living for cottage and lakefront property owners and those considering buying, building or renting will be on display. Other show exhibits include log, timber frame and cedar homes, cottage rentals, designers, cottage furnishings, lakefront homebuilders and realtors, lakeshore maintenance, boats and docks, outdoor recreational equipment, non-profit environmental organizations, government agencies and financing.

 

Rock Financial Showplace is located at 46100 Grand River Ave. between Novi and Beck Road in Novi. Show hours are from 2 – 9:30 p.m. Thursday and Friday; 10 a.m. - 9 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. Sunday.
